Visa rules for nomads

Remote work entry pathway

Nomad Visa Income Requires an income of at least 200% of the Spanish Minimum Interprofessional Wage (approx. €2,400 to €2,600/month).

Nomad Visa Duration Initially granted for 1 year (if applying from outside Spain) or 3 years (if applying while inside Spain), renewable up to 5 years.

Tourist Entry US, UK, and Canadian citizens receive 90 days visa-free entry within any 180-day period under Schengen zone rules.

Business Meetings Standard 90-day tourist/Schengen entry fully permits attending corporate conferences, business meetings, and negotiating contracts.

Money

Tipping customs

Tipping is appreciated but never obligatory. Rounding up the bill or leaving 5-10% in restaurants is normal; leaving small change at bars is common.

Where to base

Nomad hotspots

Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Malaga

Workspace

Coworking availability

Excellent — hundreds of coworking spaces, dense in Barcelona and Canary Islands, EUR 120-220/month

Cultural risk

Local taboo

Do not rush meals or expect dinner service before 20:30. Loud criticism of regional identity (Catalonia, Basque Country) is taken badly, and beachwear away from the beach is frowned upon in cities.

Personal security

Safety index

High — 68/100 safety index, low violent crime, watch for urban pickpocketing
